Jedi Knight Screenshots
Even though Jedi uses a technologically
inferior engine,
I must tear away from my beloved Quake for a few moments....
Main File
To run this game not only do you need one huge mother file (20 megs). Doominator has set up a local copy so go there to get it : http://www.hkspc.edu/JediDemo.exe a list of alternate download sites can be had from http://www.bluesnews.comDirect X
Urghhh you also need DirectX 5 ( 3.x Megabytes )For GL Card owners :
Well, run the game and get to the video options. If you don't see a little checkbox that say "Enable 3D Hardware Acceleraction" you're in trouble. You'll have to download another file (at least it's a smaller one ). It's the Direct X 5 driver updates for the VooDoo Chipset. Download it, extract it. Go to Devices, change driver, browse to it, blah blah blah. Reboot, run JediKnight. You hope you get the option then !.
For your reading enjoyment
While you download for the next two days, you can feast your eyes on :
The JediKnight Readme File.If you really want to decimate your bandwidth, you can check out the
Lucas Arts Website
in GL Jedi Knight it's pretty damn sweet.. observe :

This is the avatar I've picked. A disturbed alien-type dude. There's a few others to choose from. You're seeing the third person perspective. The first person perspective looks.. well... like any first person 3D shooter.
One problem. The players run like ducks and wag their ass like they got a butt full.

This is the ceiling of what I imagine will be the main deathmatching point (these shots are from a DM level) The motion of this third person perspective is really good. Almost playable.
The enginge looks pretty low poly, but the Lucas guys have done some adequate (and some superb) texturing work. One of the things you can really count on with lucas arts is the sound. No exception here. The sounds are awesome.

Here's a big fat shot of the 3DFX enhanced Jedi Knight. It was a bitch to get all the drivers. I've listed them at the bottom of the page. I haven't even seen the lightsaber yet....

Remember the HUD map display in Doom and Dark Forces ?
It's back, and it works in GL too...

The same position, just looking up. The mouse controls were painful to set up, but now I've got the setup exactly like my quake config.

The last of the screenshots, looking up up up...from an elevator shaft.
I like his warts.
They catch light.
